Integrative Medicine Program

Beloit Health System's Integrative Medicine Program offers a unique team approach combining the best of traditional medicine and complementary therapies. Our practitioners bring a high level of certification and experience to your care.

Our Integrative Medicine Services Are:

 

Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress, and to promote health and wellness. We offer 15, 30 and 60 minute massages.

Infant Massage

It is proven that infant massage helps stimulate growth, improve bonding between baby and caregiver, and improves baby's overall development. Cost is $35.

Tai Chi/Qigong

Tai Chi has been shown to improve energy levels, balance body coordination, strength, flexibility, endurance, cardiovascular capacity, stress management (relaxation) and personal safety. Tai Chi is particularly beneficial for older or injured people to increase balance and decrease their chance of falling.

All classes are taught by a certified Tai Chi instructor.

Yang Style Short Form
The Short Form consists of 60 moves. The focus of the class is to learn the form and its applications including: stress reduction, balance, strength, endurance, and use in daily life. Push-Hands and some self-defense applications are also taught.

Modified Yang Style Senior Form
The Senior Form Consists of 10 moves, which have been modified from the Short Form and is based on the form used in the study at Emory University. The focus of the class is on balance, body awareness, strength, endurance, reducing the risk of falling, and application of the form in daily tasks. The class is for anyone who may have balance problems or wants to reduce their chance of falling.

Qigong
Qigong is defined as "energy work". Qigong exercises help you increase your energy, reduce stress, and improve your health and mental clarity. Various exercises are taught in the Qigong class.

Yoga Classes
Learn to relax, decrease stress, and increase strength.

Classes held Wednesdays at times convenient for you
8:30 - 9:30 a.m. for Seniors
4 - 5 p.m. or 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

What is yoga?
Yoga consists of various poses, along with breath techniques to aid individuals to release stress, gain strength and flexibility, and release tension within the body. Yoga is not about competition. You are in charge and set your own pace.

What are the benefits of yoga?
Yoga increases strength, flexibility, energy, stamina, and balance. It helps release tension in the joints, release toxins, and helps maintain and strengthen other body systems. Mental benefits include an increase in mental clarity, release of tension, and an overall feeling of well-being.

Nutrition Counseling

Registered dietitians are available to provide services to assess the nutritional adequacy of diets. Educate individuals on special diets and to recommend lifestyle changes.

For an appointment call 364-5445 or 364-5309. Appointments are available Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and also on Saturdays. Cost is $40 per half-hour.
