Sibling Classes

This class is offered one Saturday morning a month and is two hours long. It is to help prepare a child for a "new baby" in their family. Through demonstration, video, books, role-playing, and a tour of the Family Care Center, children will learn how babies are born, what they will look like, how they eat and go to the bathroom, and where mom will be while she is in the hospital. There will be discussions with parents about jealousy, rivalry, competition for parental attention and the need to share time spent with each child.

The Family Care Center staff offer a variety of options for labor including a birthing ball and a soothing whirlpool room. Two visitors or labor coaches are allowed at a time during labor. The Family waiting room is conveniently located in the department for families and friends.

Pediatrics

The Pediatric area offers care to ill children ages newborn to 18 years of age. For a child and their family, being in the hospital can be a scary time. The nurses and physicians in the Family Care Center collaborate to provide the very best medical/surgical care possible. We encourage family interaction, education, and participation in your child's care to help relieve you and your child's fears.

Ill child care is available for employees through the "Recuperation Station" and for community residents through a program called "Sick Bay". Services are available 24 hours a day. A nominal hourly fee is charged to the community members who use the services. It is suggested that you pre-register your child in order to save you time when services are needed. Please call 608-364-5237 to schedule your child's ill child care.
