It's a great day to be well and Darien Clinic Nurse Practitioner (NP) Betsy Press has a workout and a healthy recipe to keep you on track. Remember, before you start an exercise plan check with a medical professional to make sure you're exercising safely. Stop at the Darien Clinic and Betsy can review the workout with you and make adjustments based on your fitness level and goals.
Wednesday Workout - Cardio!
Warm up for 5 minutes - walk or jog
100 jump ropes (real or imaginary)
100 high knees or march in place
100 jumping jacks
Run or walk for 10 minutes.
Repeat cycle at least one time, more if you are ready!
This is a great cardio workout - but be sure you can talk comfortably and aren't getting too winded. Working out alone? Try singing your favorite song or recite your favorite poem. If you can't do so comfortably, slow down a little to lower your heart rate.
If you have any questions, stop at the Darien Clinic and Betsy will review the workout with you and make adjustments based on your fitness level and goals.
You've completed a workout, now refuel with a healthy dinner.
1. Take one avocado, slice in half and remove the core.
2. Mix 3/4 cup canned tuna with 2 tablespoons of diced green
or red onion.
3. Add 1 teaspoon of basil to tuna mixture.
4. Scoop tuna into avocado halves and enjoy.
There is parmesan cheese sprinkled on the avocado in the picture. It's a great way to increase the protein of this meal, but remember some shredded cheese may be a little higher in sodium.
