The Beloit Health System UW Cancer Center enhances the longstanding relationship Beloit Health System shares with the UW Carbone Cancer Center, the only comprehensive cancer center in Wisconsin, as designated by the National Cancer Institute. Here, patients on both sides of the Wisconsin/Illinois border will get the highest possible level of cancer care in Beloit.
Our team approach combines the expertise of these cancer specialists:
Peter Mahler, MD, PhD, is a radiation oncologist and full-time board-certified physician at Beloit Health System. He is Clinical Professor, Human Oncology, of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. According to Dr. Mahler, “With the center’s new technology, we will be able to treat 95 percent of the cancers right here in Beloit.”
Walter Vogel, MD, is a medical oncologist and triple board-certified physician who has practiced in Beloit since 1987.
Sharon Cox, RN, Director of the Beloit Health System UW Cancer Center
Neel Karne, MD, Pierre Charles, Jr., MD, and Christina Golner, MD, are all talented surgeons with expertise in cancer surgeries.
Beloit Health System is proud to work in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin as we care for patients in our new Cancer Center. The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center is recognized throughout the Midwest and the nation as one of the leading innovators in cancer research, quality patient care and active community involvement. UW Carbone Cancer Center is the only comprehensive cancer center, as designated by the National Cancer Institute, in Wisconsin.
Beloit Health System’s physicians will work more closely with UW cancer specialists and will have access to the latest treatment protocols and education. Dr. Peter Mahler, Radiation Oncologist, is a full-time physician at Beloit’s Cancer Center while also being on the UW staff. He also holds the distinction of being one of the top physicians on Best-Doctors.com based on a survey of physicians around the world. Only 4% of doctors are listed on the site.
