Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner

We seek a skilled and compassionate Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. As a Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner, you will work closely with radiation oncologist and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing radiation therapy.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct patient assessments, including medical history review and physical examinations, to determine eligibility and suitability for radiation therapy.

- Collaborate with radiation oncologist to develop individualized treatment plans for patients, considering their medical condition, treatment goals, and potential side effects.

- Administer radiation therapy treatments, including external beam radiation, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Monitor patients during radiation therapy sessions, assess for adverse reactions or side effects, and provide appropriate interventions and support.

- Educate patients and their families about the radiation therapy process, including treatment expectations, potential side effects, and self-care strategies.

Coordinate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as medical physicists, radiation therapists, and oncology nurses, to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.

- Accurately and efficiently document patient information, treatment plans, and interventions in electronic medical records.

- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to radiation oncology nursing practice.

- Stay updated with the latest advancements in radiation therapy techniques, equipment, and research, and apply evidence-based practice in patient care.

Requirements:

- Master's degree in Nursing or a Doctorate

- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.

- Prior experience in oncology nursing, preferably in a radiation oncology setting.

- Strong knowledge of radiation therapy principles, techniques, and safety protocols.

- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and their families.

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other healthcare software.

- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning in radiation oncology.
