The following case studies are designed to assist clinicians in assessing
their patients' eligibility for hospice care.
We have selected some of the most common primary diagnoses and created
examples of “gray area” patients—those whose symptoms
may make it difficult to determine eligibility for hospice, but who do
indeed qualify. We encourage you to use these case studies to help identify
similar patients in your own census who may benefit from hospice services.
