Diabetes Education Class held in the Beloit Hospital Auditorium.
• This one day course provides several sessions of group instruction for people with diabetes and their significant other.
• A multi-disciplinary team of instructors, including registered nurses who are certified diabetes educators, a dietitian, a counselor, and a pharmacist, will lead discussion on how to cope and effectively manage this chronic disease.
• Topics of instruction include: Monitoring of Blood Glucose, Education on Nutritional Guidelines, Carbohydrate Counting, Reading Food Labels, and Strategies for Eating Out, Coping Strategies, Discussion on the Benefit of Exercise, Long Term Complication Management, Short Term Complication Management, Developing a Plan to Manage Sick Days, and Developing Individual Management Goals.
