Beloit Health System Announces Proposal for New Neighborhood Hospital at NorthPointe Campus

Beloit Health System announced exciting plans to propose the establishment of a new Neighborhood Hospital at its NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus in Roscoe, Illinois, which has proudly been serving as a cornerstone of the Stateline Community for over 15 years. This initiative aims to strengthen local healthcare services and elevate patient outcomes by addressing several critical healthcare needs in the region as well as stemming outmigration to Wisconsin for hospital care.

Key benefits from the establishment of a Neighborhood Hospital at the NorthPointe Campus include:

Alleviating High Bed Utilization on Beloit Campus

Beloit Memorial Hospital's inpatient beds currently operate at high utilization rates. The new remote location will add 10 private inpatient beds, helping to alleviate this capacity strain.

"Expanding to all private rooms underscores our commitment to providing the best possible patient experience," said Roger Kapoor, MD, MBA, Senior Vice President of Beloit Health System. "With these additional beds, we'll be able to enhance privacy and reduce overcrowding."

Improving Emergency Care Access

In addition to primary care, the new Neighborhood Hospital will operate a full-service emergency department. This will offer a critical, life-saving option for emergency medical care to Roscoe residents and neighboring communities.

"When dealing with a medical emergency, swift access and prompt intervention is paramount," Kapoor said. "Our new emergency department will allow patients to receive the urgent treatment they need, closer to home. Every second counts in an emergency."

Addressing Primary Care Shortage

The U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration has identified a shortage of primary care health professionals in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Beloit Memorial Hospital's new remote location will provide expanded access to care, helping to fill this gap.

"Too many residents in our area struggle to get timely appointments with primary care providers," remarked Kapoor. "Competition for physicians, and advanced practice clinicians, remains fierce and investing in a modern new hospital positions our health system to recruit quality clinical talent to deliver high-quality primary care to this market."

If approved, construction of the Neighborhood Hospital is scheduled to begin in 2025, with an anticipated opening in late 2026 or early 2027. The facility will create both new healthcare and construction jobs in the region.
