A sure sign of summer is the return of Music and More at Harry’s Place! The series of free concerts and movies will begin on Friday, June 21 with the showband tunes of Rhythm Rockets sponsored by Beloit Health System. The concerts, now in their 15th year, draw residents of all ages to the Harry C. Moore Pavilion at Riverside Park in Beloit.
Rhythm Rockets are a favorite band from Chicago featuring lively jump, swing and rhythm and blues. They are a seven piece band complete with female vocalist and plenty of saxophones to keep your toes tapping.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. before the concert, Beloit Health System will offer health education and fun activities. “This is the 15th year we have sponsored the first concert and we wanted to do something special” explains Sarah Starmer, Beloit Health System spokesperson. “We encourage everyone to stop by to get more information on taking care of your heart. Our staff will have activities and even something new for the kids.”
The “Hearts and Beats” theme will offer:
· Heart Healthy Food choices
· CPR demonstrations and AED instruction
· Free Blood Pressures
· AlertLine Home response information
· How to prevent and recognize stroke
· Exercise for your heart
· New Heart and Vascular Center services
· Balloon hearts and balloon art for kids
The concert begins at 7 p.m. with food and beverage vendors set up for business by 5:30. You are encouraged to bring your own chairs or blankets for seating. The concerts are a favorite for stateline residents of all ages.
