Well, you might think you have signed up to be an organ donor. However, according to the new regulations, if you signed your driver’s license to be a donor prior to 2010, it is no longer valid.
On Thursday, November 4,representatives from the University of Wisconsin’s Organ Procurement Organization will be at Beloit Health System’s hospital to sign up donors to the new Wisconsin State Donor Registry. The representatives will be in the hospital from 9 a.m.- 12 noon in the Lobby Conference Room (next to the visitor elevators.)
"If you signed your Driver’s License prior to 2010, it is important for you to register with the State Donor Registry again," emphasizes Terri Harmon, Director of Nursing Administration and chair of our Organ Donor program. If people get their driver’s license updated every eight years, it will be a long time to replenish Wisconsin Donor rolls via driver’s licenses.
Please take a few minutes on Nov. 4th, meet with our Organ Procurement Organization representatives, and sign up for the state registry. With 19 people dying everyday while waiting for an organ, we need to give residents of Wisconsin the opportunity to "Give the Gift of Life".
