The Hendricks Family has made a big investment in the future of heart care in the stateline area. Construction is now underway at Beloit Hospital for a state-of-art Heart Hospital and the Hendricks Family Foundation has generously gifted $3 million to this effort.
“The new Heart Hospital will be a one-of-a-kind cardiac center of excellence,” stated Tim McKevett, President and CEO of Beloit Health System. “This is the largest gift ever given to Beloit Health System and the Hendricks Family has truly demonstrated their commitment to improving the quality of life in our community. We are thrilled and humbled that the family has shown such strong dedication and faith in our Health System.”
The new Hendricks Family Heart Hospital, with a total cost of $13.8 million, will be located on the fourth floor of Beloit Hospital with construction already started to move current services to other floors. Beloit Health System is proud to raise the bar for cardiac care in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
“I believe it’s essential that our Beloit community receives access to the finest healthcare options available,” emphasizes Diane Hendricks, Chairperson ABC Supply Co. and Hendricks Holding Company, Inc. “This will be a vital component in offering the best opportunities for our residents.”
“Our family supports this new facility that will provide convenient access for time- sensitive cardiac circumstances,” Hendricks added. “This ‘heart hospital within a hospital’ gives me great comfort in knowing that our community will have the best options during critical times of need. For this reason we have decided to partner in this important project with Beloit Health System.”
“The Hendricks Family Heart Hospital will provide a unique patient experience where a highly skilled staff, working with the best technology, will provide a caring and healing environment,” states Dr. Leo Egbujiobi, 25-year Interventional Cardiologist at Beloit Health System. “It will have the latest technology and equipment to bring all aspects of heart care together."
It will feature a new Hybrid Dual Cath Lab and Operating Suite, the only one of its kind in our region. This is a larger suite - more than double the size of our current operating room. It has the elements of a traditional Cath Lab with the features of an operating room used for more advanced procedures such as heart bypass surgery, heart valve repair (or replacement) and vascular surgery.
The new Hendricks Family Heart Hospital will benefit patients:
• With improved outcomes and faster recovery- featuring the most advanced imaging capabilities. New procedures such as valve replacement TAVR and valve repair TMVR, that reduce inpatient hospital stays from approximately 7 days to 2 days.
• Less radiation- with the newest equipment and enhanced technology.
• Recruitment and retention of the best staff- by expanding our services to meet the needs of the community, the new Hendricks Family Heart Hospital allows the Health System to bring the best medical care to stateline residents.
The timeline for the $13.8 million Hendricks Family Heart Hospital is set up in three phases.
Phase 1- Construction begins in late 2015 for a new Cardiology Clinic and physician offices in Wing 1 of the new Heart Hospital.
Phase 2- Begins in mid-2016 with the Hybrid Dual Cath Lab and Operating Suite. Also the remodel and technology update of two Cardiac Cath Labs.
Phase 3- Completed in 2017 with new critical care rooms, a private waiting area and family sleep area.
“The new Hendricks Family Heart Hospital will continue to expand the current care we give our patients,” commented McKevett. “The new Heart Hospital will continue to ensure our community receives the best heart care that they deserve. When minutes count, I am confident that our cardiac team can save lives.”
Kendra Story, family member and Beloit Health System Board Member, stated, “We are delighted as a family to support this Heart Hospital. Our families, our employees and our neighbors utilize this hospital and its great heart care. We should be proud in Beloit and the stateline area that we have the very best heart care right here.”
