Beloit Health System’s continual focus is on making a patient’s hospital stay a better experience. Many times this improvement means the purchase of high tech equipment, clinical staff education or a shorter hospital stay. This time however, their efforts have focused on an easier-to-understand patient billing statement.
Beloit Health System now has a new look to their billing statements. And patients are sure to be pleased that the language and charges are much easier to understand.
“We have recently found a vendor that was able to simplify our patient billing statements,” stated Maureen Gumowski, Director of Revenue Cycle at Beloit Health System. “Since our conversion to a new electronic medical system a few years ago, our statements have sometimes been source of frustration for our patients. We worked hard to find a solution so that our billing statements could be more easily understood.”
The solution to the new statement was based on patient feedback. Some positive changes include tracking charges and payments by date of service and by provider or procedure. Patients will more easily identify if a visit has been processed by insurance and what they owe. It will also let patients know where their balance is in the payment cycle.
