January marks the return of Qigong to the Beloit Cancer Center. Qigong (CHEE-gong), an ancient Chinese practice of gentle exercise, focuses on the natural self-healing practice.
The next 8-week session starts January 18, 2017 at the Beloit Cancer Center Community Room on the corner of Lee Lane and Milwaukee Road in Beloit.
Classes are available Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30am or 4:00-5:00pm or Thursday 5:30 to 6:30pm.
Qigong is a gentle exercise system with relaxed exercise and regulation of mind and breath. It has gentle flowing stretches and sot, rhythmic movement performed with focus. It improves all of the functions of the body including the digestive, nervous and immune system. It also improves core strength, posture and increases flexibility. Participants can practice Qigong either standing or sitting and all ages and abilities are welcome.
The instructor for the classes is Nancy Mayhew, Tai Chi and Qigong Instructor. Nancy is a Wellness Coordinator and Manager through the National Wellness Institute.
For more information, or to register for a class, please call Beloit Cancer Center at 608-364-5253. Due to limited space, registration is required.
Cost is $50 per 8-week session for the public. Cancer patients and their caregivers may attend the classes at no cost.
